Privacy policy

MyEngineOil is a lookup tool. It works best when it holds as little about you as possible, and that is how it is built.

Registration lookups

When you enter a registration, it is sent to the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service to identify the vehicle, and the result is used to find the matching oil specification. Registrations are not attached to an account, are not sold or passed to product partners, and are not used to build a profile of you.

Lookup responses are cached to stay within DVLA's rate limits. The cache holds vehicle attributes against the registration, not against you.

Forms

The contact and partner enquiry forms collect the details you type into them, and we use those details only to reply. We do not add form submissions to a marketing list.

The newsletter signup collects your email address for the purpose stated next to it: oil change reminders and new guides. Every email carries an unsubscribe link.

Analytics and cookies

We use privacy-preserving analytics to count page views and understand which lookups people use. No advertising cookies are set, and no cross-site tracking is used.

Where a product link goes to a retailer, that retailer's own privacy policy and cookies apply once you leave this site.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Use the contact form and we will respond within one month.

If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Contact

Questions about this policy go through the contact form on the About page, or to the partner address if the enquiry is commercial.
